All our Vista system comes with a Acronis F11 feature. This feature will wipe out the current image and reload the factory default. To access this feature, keep pressing F11 while the system boots up. The menu will give you two option: 1) start Acronis 2) boot into windows. Once you start Acronis, the process will begin.

The other way to make a recovery disc is with Acronis or using a Windows Home Server. Unfortunately, we cannot show you because it's not supported by us.

Windows 7 Do It Yourself Upgrade - Upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

You need to use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit; our software will not work on 32 bit. It's recommended that you do a clean install. Most drivers should be automatically detected by Windows. If your Rainier has Blu-ray, you need to buy a license from Arcsoft Total Media Theater Platinum. If you wish us to upgrade for you, the cost would be $400+s&h.

The PCI Simple Communications Controller is the Intel Management Engine. The system performance isn’t affected by this driver. Intel doesn’t have a specific Windows 7 driver for it, but the Windows Vista driver will work:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=10895&ProdId=2412&lang=eng

We can't comment on future releases. When something becomes available, you'll see it on the main page. In general, we don't recommend doing windows update because these are media center pc. If you use it as a computer, then we suggest you update these security patches. If you notice system stability after the updates, then uninstall them by going into the Control Panel->Program & Features.

If you press the power button once, this will start the shutdown process; assuming that the system is still responding and not hang up. Within a few minutes, the system will shut down. A few suggestions:

-check screen saver setting for desktop and media center and make sure it's turn off.
- check the power setting: turn off display should be set to never and sleep should be set to never

Please explain what you mean by windows related issues with WMC freezing?

There are options for you to convert HD movies to mkv format, but it's not supported by Niveus. Due to the complexities of video codec and various format available, we cannot support anything other than the default. The Green Button is a very resourceful forum. You may want to check them out.

2008+ system have 64 bit compatible hardware. When people upgrade, they want to keep their data and app. This is possible if the OS you are upgrading to is also 32 bit. However, all our apps are 64 bit and will not be compatible with 32 bit. Therefore, you must do a clean install. That mean it will wipe out all your data and the Acronis F11 feature that came preloaded with Vista. If you like to keep this F11 feature, you need to send the unit back to us for upgrade.
