Upgrading Rainier 750HD CPU and video card
Feb 1st, 2010, 8:23pm

Is it possible to do a home upgrade of the Rainier CPU and video card?  If so, what are the recommended models?

OS is Windows7 64bit, I'm primarily concerned with bios issues.  Thanks!

Has anyone ever upgraded their Niveus boxes?

It is not recommended to upgrade the CPU or video card. You will run into overheating the system. We use custom heat pipe and heatsink to transfer heat to the side. If you replace the video card, you will not be able to use the same heatsink/heatpipe.

Great, so the key issue is matching the heat pipes.

Will the new Rainier models use the same cases?  Perhaps you can sell owners the heatpipe for the new video cards?

The 2010 Rainier uses a different board. It no longer use a dedicated video card so no heatpipe are require.
