Nvidia's PureVideo HD Technology

Learn more about how Nvidia's PureVideo HD Technology powers the ISF certified Niveus Media Center

Nvidia Pure Video based Niveus Media Center:

NVIDIA® PureVideo™ HD technology delivers smooth HD video in all formats and with superb picture clarity. In collaboration with Microsoft, Image Science Foundation, and Niveus Media, the Denali Edition Media Center holds the title of "First" ISF Certified Media Center. The following paragraphs detail the Pure Video technology and how it played a large role in the Denali receiving its ISF certification.

High-Definition Video: NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology features hardware acceleartion, integration with the Niveus Media HD DVD player, and is designed to meet the HDCP specification for output protection management and security specifications of HD DVD movie formats. Nvidia PureVideo HD technology delivers superb picture quality for all video formats, as well as stunning HD DVD movies - with low CPU utilization and power consumtion. And, since PureVideo HD supports most current and future HD formats, you can rest assured that a Niveus Media Center powered by PureVideo HDwill keep up with the pace of tomorrow’s video technologies, and continue to deliver HD content well into the future.

Superb Picture Quality: Nvidia PureVideo HD technology delivers outstanding picture clarity, ultra-smooth video, vivid color, and precise image scaling for video and HD DVD movies. PureVideo HD acceleartes and enhances high definition movies in H.264, VC-1, WMV, and MPEG-2 formats, delivering life-like images that have up to six times the detail standard DVD movies. High Definition post-processing features, including advanced de-interlacing, noise reductino, and edge enhancement, provide spectacular picture clarity at resolutions up to 108p - the highest HD resolution available.

Features & Benefits...

NVIDIA PureVideo™ HD Technology
NVIDIA PureVideo™ HD technology is the combination of high-definition video processors and software that delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color, and precise image scaling for all video content.

Adaptable Programmable Video Processor
PureVideo’s programmable technology adapts to new video encoding formats as they are developed to provide a future-proof video solution.

MPEG-2 Decode Acceleration
Allows smooth playback of all MPEG-2 video with minimal CPU usage—freeing the media center to do other work.

WMV Decode Acceleration
Play videos in Microsoft’s Windows Media Video High Definition (WMV HD) format without skipping frames or losing video detail.

Advanced Spatial Temporal De-Interlacing
Smoothes video and DVD playback on progressive displays to deliver a crisp, clear picture that rivals high-end home theater systems.

High-Quality Scaling
Allows for upscaling of a low-resolution video to HDTV resolutions (up to 1080), while maintaining a clear, clean image. Also allows for downscaling videos, including high-definition, without experiencing any annoying flicker , while preserving image detail.

Inverse Telecine (3:2 & 2:2 Pulldown Correction)
Recovers original film format data to provide more accurate video playback and superior picture quality.

Bad Edit Correction
Detects disruption of the normal 3:2 or 2:2 pulldown cadence resulting from poor edits made after film has been converted from 24 to 25 or 30 frames per second video format. Uses advanced processing techniques to recover the original film content and display perfect picture detail frame after frame for smooth, natural looking video.

Video Color Correction
Corrects differences in color characteristics of RGB monitors and TV monitors through NVIDIA PureVideo’s ProcAmp Color Controls settings, such as Brightness and Contrast. The display gamma correction ensures videos are not too dark, overly bright, or washed out regardless of the video format or display.

LCD Sharpening
Compensates for slower response time by overdriving color signals, thereby automatically eliminating ghosting effects. LCD displays can exhibit "ghosting" effects because of the slow response time of liquid crystals.

Integrated TV Output
Provides world-class TV-out functionality (Component 75ohm BNC Ports on the Niveus Media Center), up to 1080i resolution.
