Introduction
to a Niveus Storage Server
In
a world where our digital files are more valuable than the computers
on which they reside, it's time to manage, backup, and access our important
files from a single reliable personal server. |

The
idea behind the storage server is really rather simple, as the number of
computers in your home grows, so does the amount of valuable digital data
that is created and stored on those computers. A personal server can help
you organize your digital files, create a single central respository, and
allow you to access it from anywhere on the home network, and beyond. |
In
the case of the Niveus Storage Server, users can create auto-backup
folders and files from the various computers using the Niveus Storage Server
Client Software. In addition to the file management aspect, a storage server
can assist in automation tasks, such as the backup of your various media locations
(my music, my pictures, my videos, etc.).
Based
on a complete computer platform, these personal servers will begin to expand
in feature set and value at a much quicker rate than traditional CE devices,
or commodity network attached storage devices.
Noise
is also a major factor. In our view, the server should adapt to the office,
not the other way around. Thus our Niveus Storage Servers operates at near silent
operation, with zero fans.

factor is EASE OF USE. Even when individuals have the IT
knowledge to manage their office server, that doesn't mean they should have
spend their valuable time doing that. A small office server should be easy
to setup and use, and for the most part should manage itself. On the Niveus
Personal Server, we've put a lot of effort into creating a simple setup
process. We've done a lot of abstraction in the user interface to seperate
advanced features from the type of features the average user will use on
a daily basis. While we would never cut off access to the more advanced
features of a server, it is important that they are organized in a way to
not confuse the novice user or first time user. That is where our User Interface
Templates come in. We've created a user interface that can be completely
redesigned to support varying degrees of user ability, all with a simple
choice made from a drop down menu. |

Lastly,
when coupled with a Niveus Media Center, based on Microsoft Media Center
2005, the Niveus Storage Server becomes almost transparent
